On 15th December 2010 Sammy Wilson, the Minister of Finance and Personnel (DFP), issued the Northern Ireland Executive’s draft spending plans for the four year period from April 2011 to March 2015. A period of consultation then commenced which will end on 16th February 2011.
EAG welcomes the opportunity to provide a response to the draft Budget and this submission reflects the views of EAG members following consultation with a number of Northern Ireland government departments, other economic stakeholders and analysis of the Executive’s spending proposals.
EAG believes that it is essential that the highest possible standards are used to evaluate expenditures at a time when the economy is under great pressure. This means that all current expenditures should be scrutinised for efficiency and effectiveness and that the approach to capital expenditures reflects the current economic need for such capital and the cost of such capital.
This response is structured to reflect the key issues that we believe need to be addressed before agreeing a final Budget.
