Joe Reynolds from OFMDFM gave a short presentation on the progress of PfG and an outline timeframe for the next stages of the process. The panel discussed the Competitiveness Report, The National Living Wage, Brexit, the NI Economic Strategy refocus and the new Department for the Economy.
Colin Sullivan from DFP gave a presentation on the progress of Government Reform, while Joe Reynolds from OFMDFM gave a short presentation on the progress of PfG, followed by a panel discussion. The Group discussed the Competitiveness Summary, Corporation Tax and the future work programme.
The group discussed the need for improved collaboration between DETI and DARD to support the agri-food sector; the need to improve communication and interaction between Invest NI and companies; the possibility of a challenge to end-year flexibility by EAG and a general review of the recommendations made by IREP. They also met with a range of stakeholders to discuss the local economy.
The group discussed utility regulation, Northern Ireland’s communication infrastructure and the progress being made on issues related to sub regional economic growth. They met with the the Northern Ireland Secretary of State and with a range of stakeholders to discuss the local economy.
The Economic Advisory Group met with DETI Minister for first time on 28 May 2010. They discussed the terms of reference for the Economic Advisory Group, the Independent Review of Economic Policy Paper, economic priorities for Northern Ireland, key priorities for EAG discussion and the development of a Communication Strategy for the group.
